Where Landfall sits
Landfall is a community of about 2,000 acres, and you'll notice it right away because it stretches along the Intracoastal Waterway between Military Cutoff and the waterway itself, directly across from Wrightsville Beach. It's also right across the street from Mayfaire Town Center and plenty of other shopping areas.
That whole stretch has become a hub, with shopping, dining, offices, high-tech and fintech employers, apartments and luxury apartments. Landfall itself is mostly luxury homes. I'd say it's located about as good as you can get it.
Homes and sub-communities in Landfall
There are thousands of homes and townhomes here, spread across sub-communities within the larger community. Most of the homes are custom, and the range is wide:
- Patio-style homes and townhomes of around 2,000 square feet
- Waterfront homes of 15,000 square feet with a dock, at the top end of the range
Many of the homes sit along the Intracoastal Waterway, and some are priced well into the tens of millions of dollars. A handful of lots are still available to purchase.
Day to day, Landfall has multiple security gates at different entrances, plenty of sidewalks, and natural gas. It's a very walkable community.
Golf and clubs at Landfall
Landfall has two 18-hole golf courses, the Nicklaus and the Dye. They're both world class and both private, and there is a multi-year waiting list for membership.
There's also a sports membership, which doesn't include full golf. It covers world-class tennis facilities, pool facilities, pickleball, you name it. A couple of clubhouses host the big events.
Buddy's Take: If you're looking at a home in Landfall, find out whether a golf membership is grandfathered in with it. With that multi-year waiting list, a membership that comes with the home is worth a significant amount of money and time.
A little Landfall history
I remember Landfall from when I was a kid, and it was struggling back then. It went bankrupt a few times before a company came in, bought it and finally got it going. Now it's a thriving community. In my opinion it's one of the nicest master-planned communities on the East Coast and one of the most in demand. It has increased in price rapidly, and it's a beautiful, beautiful community.
